Healthy waterways by

  • reducing pollutants entering streams
  • Reduce flooding
  • safe paddling and swimming,
  • no sewage smells in parks and walkways,
  • Safe route for Walking school bus
  • community understand when water unsafe, good practice and what targeted rate being spent on.

Orakei Local Board support requested

Pests and Plants

  • Continue to fund and audit pest control in local parks (protect our investment and SEA) and support Natural Environment Targeted Rate
  • Fund more pest plant (tree) removal in SEA buffer and planting of natives including Hapua Reserve

Water

  • Fund an independent water and sediment quality report on health of the Bay
  • Direct Watercare and Healthy Waters to plan and deliver the restoration of the Bay
  • Legally test Watercare’s performance with respect to BPO condition of their discharge consent
